Hyper the Hedgehog

I tried to make sure that there are no typos in the prologue. I looked over it twice, but sometimes typos manage to get past me without my noticing. And I'm fairly certain I've spelt everything properly. It's just a random fanfic I do to waste some time every now and then. I wish I could make a comic, manga, doujin, or whatever you wanna' call it out of this, but I don't have the skill to do something like that, I'm afraid. But oh well. I can at least type the story out and make my own images.

PROLOGUE

Hyper was still young. He had no clue what he was getting himself into. He had heard that Eggman Nega was in this area. He wanted to prove himself as a hero. Since he couldn't think of a better way to make himself into such a hero, he had to try and stop Eggman Nega. But what was he up to? Hyper had no clue. But with Nega, there was always something going on. He had done some research about a month ago on something he had heard Nega speak about to the city he was in. Nega had spoken out to the city in his large warship, ordering their queen to hand him something called a Sol Emerald. Shortly after, Hyper looked around for any information he could get on said emerald. He now knew what Nega wanted, but he had no clue why. He just knew that it had to be important for him to threaten an entire city for it. It was time to prove that he was a hero.

Hyper was pretty fast, but he let that get in the way of his intelligence, sometimes. He went too fast. He ran through the forests, hunting down a Sol Emerald, trying to get it before Nega could, so that if the villain wanted it, he'd have to go through Hyper. Then Hyper could prove himself by defeating Nega and bringing him into the proper authorities. He'd be the hero he wanted to be. After a while of running through the forest, he ran straight into a large robot. The machine turned around and looked down at Hyper. "Target acquired.", the robot stated. It aimed it's turrets at Hyper. All he could do was run. He had no clue what to do. He'd never seen anything like this. If this was how he was gonna' act in the face of danger, he was gonna' have some problems becoming a hero.

After he had run further, he had found more and more robots. All Hyper could think was that the Sol Emerald must be close for so many of Nega' robots to be around. And if that's the case, Eggman Nega would have to be closeby as well. He ran and ran, avoiding all robots that would attempt to kill him. Finally, he stopped, hearing an odd sound. Like some kind of radiating energy source. Following the sound, he found it. A Sol Emerald. It was red, and it radiated with a magnificent glow. With this, Nega would be one emerald short, and he'd have to find Hyper to get it. It was now time for Hyper to get out of this forest. Had Eggman Nega found him here, it would be harder on Hyper, as all of his robots were there for support. Hyper wouldn't have a chance.

Too bad for Hyper. The second he turned around, seemingly hundreds of robots faced him with turrets aimed at his head. "Relinguish the Sol Emerald to us.", one robot stated. Hyper just glared at them with sharp eyes. He had no clue what to do. He was more or less surrounded. He couldn't move forward, for fear of being killed by the robots and he couldn't turn and run, because there was no land left. Just a large cliff leading down to the ocean. And he had never learned to swim. He was way over his head. What would he do now? He wasn't about to let Eggman Nega have another Sol Emerald. He knew it would be disastrous if Nega got his hands on all the emeralds. He didn't know what would happen exactly, but there had to be some reason why he wanted them, and if he'd threaten an entire city for one, he had to have evil intentions.

As he thought about what to do, the robots grew restless. They counted down his time to hand them the emerald. His time was up. They began firing. He no longer had time to think. He could only act. He started running around, trying to avoid all fire. But he had no chance. He had no experience with this sort of thing. All that went through his head was "I've screwed up big time. I can't be a hero." as he attempted to avoid the attacks. He was pushed back, trying to avoid the bullets as the robots moved closer. Suddenly, he had nowhere else to go. He had been pushed to the edge of the cliff. He couldn't move now. But the robots continued firing. He could only sway left or right and hope to survive. In the end, he was no hero. His left eye had been hit. The pain caused him to stagger back and he fell. He knew it was over for him. He had made the biggest mistake of his life.

What happened next? Flames covered the area. An explosion could be heard. All of a sudden, his falling ceased. Someone had caught his arm, but he couldn't be certain of what was happening. Both his eyes were closed. Only his left eye had been injured, but the pain had caused him to keep both eyes shut hard. He had no idea what was going on, but he didn't care right now. Before too long, he was laying on the ground. Everything seemed calm and quiet. And then he heard a voice belonging to a woman. "Are you alright?" The voice was very beautiful in Hyper's mind. But he still couldn't open his eyes. His body shook quite a bit in pain.

"Your eye was hit by one of those bullets..." Hyper hadn't even noticed that his left eye was open. The woman had pulled up his left eyelid. He couldn't see anything through it. It was as if he was completely blind. He had no clue as to what was happening. "Relax. I'll see what I can do about fixing your injury." She didn't know exactly what to do, but she could at least releave the pain to some degree. After quite some time, Hyper was able to open his right eye. His left eye had been completely wrapped in bandages. She wasn't able to do anything about the eye itself. It still hurt. The bullet was still in his eye. But at least the pain had lowered enough that he could open his good eye and look around.

He saw a cat in front of him. She was very beautiful, just as he thought from her voice. This was the one who had saved him. It was none other than the Princess herself. Blaze. He had never met her, but he had seen her several times on television. The gaurdian of the Sol Emeralds. But wait. What happened to the emerald? As it turned out, it had fallen to the body of the large ocean beneath the cliff that Hyper fell off of. Neither Hyper or Blaze could reach it from where it lay. "Why save me and not the emerald?" Hyper couldn't help but be curious. She was the gaurdian of the emeralds, and he'd figured they'd be more important to her than he was. But she replied quickly. "The life of one outweighs the importance of the emeralds at this moment. There's still time to find them before Eggman Nega can gather them all. So saving someone in trouble is a higher priority at the moment." Hyper was surprised by the answer, but he was certainly grateful. He had been foolish to think he could be a hero like this. Blaze suddenly spoke again. "I've cleared the way from the town to here. You should be able to make it back on your own. I have to go another path at the moment. The next emerald is waiting." Blaze runs off without giving Hyper a chance to say anything. He had wanted to thank her. But it was too late now. He stood up and walked away, heading back for town.
